Nowadays, it is quite easy to be labeled as a 'writer'. You start writing a book or in a blog and get it published, then you can already call yourself a writer. The sound seems good to the ear that many desire to be titled as such. The truth is many can write and deliver, and the result, the competition gets tight.
Writing is a skill that is both innate and can be learned. For you to have the edge, you must not be complacent. You need to improve every single day until you become the best writer that you can ever be. For you to become the best, you need to be better. And to become better, you need to be good.
I was able to identify several tips for you to become a good writer. Here are the following:
Be passionate. Fall in love with writing. This must be something that energizes your soul and stirs your mind. If you have fallen in love, you will fully understand what being passionate means.
Know your tone. As a writer, you need to identify your niche first to find your voice. You need to know the suitable approach for you to deliver well your message to your readers. You can study the tone of your favorite writer, but you cannot copy his or her style. You need to be unique.
Master the craft. Passion in writing and knowing your tone are not enough. You need to hone your skill through constant writing practice. Reading books, magazines and articles of various topics can help you to expand your knowledge. If attending seminars is necessary for you to learn writing strategies, do so.
Jot down your thoughts. Do not let your ideas come to pass. Always bring a notebook and pen with you. You never know when good ideas to write will pop in your head, so it is better to be ready.
Edit and rewrite. Do not be satisfied with your finished product. Once done, reread your article and edit the words, phrases, and punctuation marks. There are cases that you need to rewrite your article to improve it, do not be afraid to do so.
You do not have to be good enough to start to write. You can begin now and improve each day. Remember, right attitude surpasses skills.
